I have not made much of an effort to evaluate AV software having fallen in love with Norton along about the time that many of the readers of this post were still in ... :-) (I marked forty years in this game last month:-(((
At any rate, I've liked AVG as a free alternative, enough that I even bought a license today for the pro version.
So when I tried to load AVG using avg71f_375a703.exe in Vista 5270, I got a registry permissions error and no install.
Time to fall back on Norton Corporate licenses. They may be good for something yet. (I really dislike the fact that Norton won't issue a version of their stuff that will work on a server without all the complications of their corporate edition.)

FWI: Latest AVG and VISTA 5270

Ahh blast... there was a great post here some time ago that solved this - something about making sure UAP is disabled (check www.zacknet.co.uk/vistabase, select Security then the UAP one) and enabling permissions for certain users on a file or something... grrr have a look back in some of the newsgroups and search for "AVG". A full listing of anti-virus' that work with Vista is available here - www.zacknet.co.uk/vistabase, select Applications then the Anti-virus article :o)

Hey Zack, I just thought that I would let you know that the Main (Home) Page for your Website Does Not Work with IE 7.05296.0's Default Medium High Security Setting. I had to add http://www.zacknet.co.uk to my IE 7.0.5296.0's Trusted Site's Zone (Medium Security Setting) for it to work.

That's a strange one - all that's on there is an image with links, an Add to Favourites and a Set as Homepage link... nothing security related whatsoever! It works fine on mine - I've not even gotten round to change the settings on WIE7 yet so... could you screenshot the error and email it to me? admin@zacknet.co.uk (great... prepare for the Spam bots now!)

There is a way to fix the reg error, but the person did not post the details. I would use Avast! Home Edition which free for 60 days and if you register for 1 whole year. No version of Symantec AntiVirus 8, 9 or 10 is compatible with Vista. For licensed users, Symantec has a beta going on for Vista, you might want to check that out http://www.symantec.com/vista or http://www.symantec.com/sav-vista -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Al Christoph" wrote in message

Definately something to do with the Permissions though...
Check RegEdit, find the registry key relating to the Anti-virus and set all the permissions to OK.

Zack, I misspoke yesterday (It's actually your Production Website, not your Homepage).

Sorry Zack, but I have my MSN Live Mail Beta Junk E-mail Filter set to both Exclusive and Delete Immediately, so I did not get your E-mail.
P.S. Do Not ask me for any Windows Live Mail Beta Invites, since I haven't gotten any yet.
P.P.S. I am in the Public (http://ideas.live.com) Windows Live Mail Beta Test, so I am not violating any rules that apply to the Private (http://connect.microsoft.com) Windows Live Mail Beta Tester's (so I am not under a NDA Agreement at this time).

OK, well I'm on the beta from beta team invitation, so I'm not going to ask for any invites, and I'm not going to say anything else as I myself AM under NDA ;o)
Change your resolution to 1024x768 then try again - it's set that anyone less than that has to change their res. up a bit, because it won't display properly otherwise.
